I own and run this company: Compton's Harmony Animal Training, where I offer behaviour guidance, private lessons, classes, courses, lectures, sale of equipment, literature and more. I have a close cooperation with Behaviour-Veterinarian Gry Eskeland from Atferdssenter for smådyr(Behaviour clinic for small animals) and Carola Brusevold dog trainer and physio & rehab therapist at Råde Hund
(Råde Dog school). We consider it a great benefit to be a group of three professionals working together, we have more experience and knowledge together than any of us could get on our own. We have the benefit that we can consult each other when needed.
I also have a collaboration with Lahaugmoen Dog Centre who are a part of Canis Corporation.
I was at the annual meeting 2013 of NAS (Norwegian Behaviour group for Companion Animals) elected to the board for two years. This has already been and I believe it will continue to be a great opportunity to enhance the great work NAS is doing. Professionally I am specifically passionate about animal rights, welfare and place in society. I believe in preventative work, especially through informing people. The lack of knowledge is our biggest threat, whilst the accumulation and comprehension of this knowledge is the key to understanding and integration. We must work towards increasing knowledge in all parts of society, from the regular population, to politicians, breeders, trainers and so forth. Personally I also have a great interest in allowing the animals to use their abilities, and therefore I train my dogs amongst other things for Search and Rescue-work and other scent work.
We have had dogs in our family my entire life. I have previously had 5 dogs myself, but recently reduced to two dogs in order to focus on studies and my firm. The dogs I have today are mainly my Toller (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) Shaggy's Pride (Shaggy) who is a 7 year old male. Part-time I have an almost 3 year old Rottweiler male, Conan (Raumerikets Filipus Ludde). Shaggy is a B-certified (soon A-certified) Norwegian Rescue Dog and a certified Therapy dog for AAT.
Personally I have had and been active with animals my entire life. I have had several breeds: boxer, Toller, Golden, Rottweiler and mix breeds, as well as working with and training numerous other breeds. I have been active with horses in show-jumping, dressage and driving, as well as competed in the NM (Norwegian Championships) in Mounted Games. When I was 17 years I studied in New Mexico, USA for a year, where I was lucky enough to live on a ranch with 30 horses of which 4 were breeding stallions. Here I had the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience within breeding, breaking, gait work (Missouri fox trotters and American Saddle breed), sales and more. After this I have been working with horses on and off during my studies. Cats have been a part of the family the last 9 years, including three cats living together today.
This is me and the life I love.
